Easter egg shortcomings

Easter came and went and our poor little hard boiled eggs never got the lively coat of color they deserved. But alas, there is always next year, or next Tuesday for decorating. But, we did go with our friends on an egg hunt at their church the Saturday before Easter. It was such a blustery day that the days events were held inside. Gosh, Devon had such a great time once we got him off of the little kid chairs in the preschool. He was totally understanding the finding eggs but the treasures inside were a little more of a mystery. That might have been our fault since we only let him have one small candy bar.

They also had a bunch of games for the kids to play after the egg hunt. Luckily our friend Nathan was manning one of the booths. Of course, Devon was more interested in the music player than the game.

And the bunny pic...with only Izzy! Devon was just wanting to look at the big furry creature!

We decided to take the kids to the finest dining we could think of...McDonalds of course! After my initial refusal to take them there, I was swayed by the indoor playground argument. We ordered our happy meals and got our high chair. Devon was sooooo excited to have hamburgers that he has seen in his "meetball" movie. But, he was more excited to drink milk at dinner with a straw! That mixed with apples with dinner, it was truly heaven!

Isabelle was doing great as well. But, when it comes to food, she LOVES everything and anything! So that was no surprise! So, after our dinner, we apologized to the staff for the sprinkling of food all over the ground and made our way over to the play gym. We were fully disappointed! YIKES! First off, it was for 3 year olds and up. And it was totally, fully enclosed for only kids. So we could not really help him up things. So, we will need to wait another year or so before we attempt that again on a rainy day.

At the play area I was hit with the realization that I will not be able to protect my babies from every single kid out there.  It kind of made me sad.

With Isabelle on the verge of walking, we are slowly taking down all of the baby things that were out for her. Devon wanted one last jump in the jumperoo before it made its way to the basement. Boy or boy...what a couple of years difference makes!

This last week has been...well, tough! On Tuesday of last week, I got strep throat and it was bad. Like, wishing for death bad. After going to the doctor and getting the correct meds, I was on the slow, slow path to feeling better. Unfortuntaly, on Friday I noticed that little man Devon was not moving his head fully and he had a bit of a swollen lymph node. So, off to the pediatrician he and Scott went. Well, of course, he had strep as well. But, we caught it really early and he was just so happy that he had extra medicine every day. (I know my kid is a medicine loving weirdo!)

Sadly, on a low note, Scott and Devon were involved in an accident last Friday on the way home from. Happily, no one was hurt in the accident. Scott was on his way home from the doctor's office with Devon when it happened.

Take a look at the damage! I still can't believe they TOTALED our car! Like, they wrote us a check and said have a nice day! WOW! I am still in shock. But, we happily bought a new car, a better car. I have to look on the bright side since we literally made our last car payment about 3 months ago.

Have a great rest of the week!!!

Our current eating chart

Strep throat was this horrible thing I had when I was a kid. I remember it so well since it was so awful and horrible. Well...nothing has changed. In the last 4 days, I have eaten almost nothing. (3 gatorades, 1/4 cup oatmeal. 1/4 cottage cheese, 3 bites of pizza and a few sips of water) I don't even understand how I am still alive on so little food! :) I think I have finally turned the corner tonight. I had a yogurt for dinner along with a half cup cottage cheese and I feel so much better. That being put aside, poor little Devon is sick once again! My little nugget has strep too and is on drugs again to beat it. The last few months has not been kinds to his throat. I am very happy that summer is just around the bend and hopefully all this silly illness is out of the way for us. I fear for what this holds for his future. But I know I should not get too far ahead of myself.

Here is the current eating chart (based on quantity)
Scott
Isabelle
Devon
Jeanne

There is something very odd about knowing your 11 month old baby can eat more than you. I hope she continues this pattern and never sees this evil strep thing!

Isabelle Leelu is 11 months old today!

Well, this enormously huge milestone just passed a few days ago actually.  But, none the less it was celebrated and marked in our big book.  I am happy and sad, proud and depressed all in the same breath.  This is officially the last time I can refer to her age in months.  Sure, I could just keep doing that for her whole life, but really people.  That is just silly  (OK, I have to figure out how old I am in months...412!)  Next month, she will turn  "ONE" and somehow it will fell so different.  But alas, that is the cruel thing about time.

She is currently in a Superwomen phase.  No interest in walking right yet, just standing up, flashing a HUGE smile and then (without attempting to step) falls into your arms.  For as much as I really want her to be able to walk, this is so heartwarming and awesome.  However, she will do her super lunge even if you are not in the room, fall to the floor and look around and get right back up to do it again.  Fearless I tell ya!

Isabelle also has found her "voice" this month.  She in talking in a talking voice now.  It is really cool and....well, quiet.  My little princess has a set of lungs on her that I think under the right circumstances could break glass.  So, this was a happy and nice discovery for her.  I don't want to be "that" mom that tells you her baby is saying mama...but OMG, I think she it!  It is so lovely.  We think that she also understands "all done" at meal time.

So, as you can tell, Isabelle is teething.  Our original idea for the 11 month shot did not really pan out.  So, we thought that this idea with two silver ones would be charming.  Little did I know she would have these numbers in her mouth the entire time. I mean the ENTIRE time.  Sorry for the overload of the "same" pictures, but I really wanted you to see the slobbering awesomeness that is Isabelle Leelu!  Out of the 216 I took, I don't think I found one that I loved!  So, we might need to retake them... Devon was really excited to get his hands on those numbers once we were done!
